The retreats will be held in a house in the small village of Valdecabras, 20km north-east of the medieval city of Cuenca and approximately 200km east of Madrid. The AVE, Spain’s high speed train, has frequent services that take you from the capital to Cuenca in 55 minutes.
The house offers simple accommodation in individual and shared rooms and light, sunny spaces for yoga practice. There are also areas for reading and social interaction. The house has central heating should the temperatures at night be unseasonably low.
All meals are vegetarian. Special diets, i.e. vegan, can be catered for, please get in touch with us to discuss your needs.
At around 900m above sea level, temperatures during the autumn months can be low at night. Warm clothing for early mornings and evenings is required.
Valdecabras is the gateway to the Ciudad Encantada (Enchanted City), a geological site in which the erosive forces of weather and the waters of the neaby Júcar river have formed rocks into distinctive and memorable shapes.
The spectacular gorge formed by the Júcar River is home to many species of birds of pray, that can be spotted nesting on its high cliffs. The green waters of the Júcar River make a stunning contrast against the reds, greens and ochres of the rock faces.
The city of Cuenca is one of Spain’s most beautiful medieval cities, declared heritage of humanity by UNESCO. As well as stunning landscapes, the city and its surroundings offer a wealth of cultural activities, from dinosaur digs, Roman remains and medieval castles to the first Gothic cathedral built in Spain and an important gallery of contemporary art.
